Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best way to elope on Moreton Island?
With Moreton Island Weddings of course :) Our team will take care of everything for you.
Will my elopement be legal?
Absolutely, provided you are over the age of 18 and are not already married to someone else.
How do I make sure my elopement is legal?
You will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage with our marriage celebrant between one month and 18 months before your wedding day, and provide supporting evidence such as your passport or birth certificate and photo ID (usually drivers licence) and any evidence if you have been married before (divorce or death certificate). Our celebrant will assist you in applying for evidence of your marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages after the wedding. We will apply for a beach permit on your behalf. A ceremony script will then be discussed between you and the required legal wording will be included. You will say your "I do's" with two witnesses present, sign your marriage certificate and you will be legally married.
Will my marriage be recognised in my Country?
This will depend on the laws of your state or country. Our Marriage Celebrant will be able to provide you with further information.
